Tip It Forward is a local nonprofit that provides holistic health care to individuals that have limited or no access through mobile clinics and workshops. We believe that the services we offer can positively contribute to treatment for chronic and acute health conditions, and help to change the way healthcare is delivered.
We are thrilled to announce that we have a new website! Please check it out to find out more about who we are and what we do, and how you can get involved to help make this change.
Tip It Forward is informed, in part, by the Louisville Metro Health Equity Report 2017 and The Greater Louisville Project 2017 Report on Poverty. The Greater Louisville Project identifies poverty as the main driver of poor health. Both reports state that poverty is multidimensional and persists through generations. It is rooted in a history of discrimination where a system of policy making ensures marginalization of specific communities. Ultimately they conclude, “Poverty is holding us back”.
The “us “ is you and me and everyone in our city. This takes us back to the word compassion itself. From its Latin roots compassion means “co-suffering”, to suffer with. We all suffer from poor health whether we recognize it or not.
There is a need to understand that compassion is much more than another word for kindness. In fact compassion carries its own logic, integrity and courage. It is a way of thinking and a way of acting. It deepens our capacity to drop self protective guards and be authentically available for others. It is at the very center of our true nature as human beings and should therefore be at the center of our healthcare system.
We are actively seeking sponsorships to deliver a mobile clinic that offers alternatives to pain as a way to face the opioid crisis.
